A small confession before we start: I’m slightly nervous posting this. A few weeks ago a comment on one of my MasterChef fondant potato tips (bevel the tops — trust me) reminded me how many opinions are out there. But enough waffling — I know plenty of you are around my age and don’t mind hearing the everyday stuff I want to share, so tonight I got dressed up just for you.
Confession one: I haven’t touched a hairdryer in three or four months. It’s been too hot, and honestly, no complaints — it’s been a beautiful summer. But a few of you have asked how I get a beachy wave, so here it is: GHD straighteners, starting at the top, clipping the rest up out of the way, then working section by section — first one direction, then the opposite, angling the ends in toward my face.
On makeup, you’ve probably noticed I don’t wear much. A little mascara, and a small pop of colour on the cheeks — a trick I picked up years ago from Bobbi Brown, who always said that pop of colour is what brings a face to life. No foundation, mostly because I never quite learned how to apply it properly. For the pop of colour itself, I’ve been using Jones Road for years now — easy to find online, or in London you can pick it up at Liberty. The tiniest amount does the job.
As for tonight’s outfit: the skirt is a wonderfully inexpensive find from Zara, and the top is a vintage piece from a Paris shop, picked up twenty-five or thirty years ago. The earrings have had a few of you asking — my original pair were organza, from Monsoon, and when I went looking for more I found a company called Luviza (I’ll tag them below).
That’s everything for tonight — back to the kitchen for me. Hope this was a nice one to share.
