There are makers who craft beautiful things, and then there are makers who accidentally make you laugh so hard you nearly send the wrong tea towel round to your entire mailing list. Echo Candles fall firmly into both camps. Hand-poured and thoughtfully scented, their candles and diffusers have quietly become one of our favourite finds — the kind of small-batch, quietly luxurious pieces that make a kitchen table (or a garden evening) feel that little bit more considered.
And then, of course, there’s the story. Their outdoor insect-repellent candle was launched, sensibly enough, as the “Bug Off” candle — right up until a certain Society founder fumbled the name mid-Instagram-reel and christened it the “Bugger Off” candle instead. What should have been a small on-camera slip turned into one of our most-loved moments with you all, and the response was so enthusiastic that Echo Candles did what any good maker with a sense of humour would do: they made it official. The “Bugger Off” candle is now sold under that very name — a lovely little reminder that the best brand stories aren’t always the ones you plan.
